We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption (TLS/SSL), secure authentication (JWT), and regular security audits. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
ANOQR Social works differently from the rest of the platform, in two ways worth setting out plainly.
Private chats, and any photos or videos sent inside them, are encrypted on your own device before they are sent. The keys that open them are generated on your device and never leave it. We store and deliver the encrypted result, and we cannot read it — not on request, not for advertising, and not for moderation. This also means we cannot recover your messages if you lose every device you have signed in on.
Because we cannot read message content, reports about a private message can only ever contain what the person reporting chooses to quote to us.
Photos and videos posted publicly are distributed across the network rather than served only from our servers. In practice this means your device keeps a working store of recent content — things you have looked at, and things from the people and spaces you follow — and can pass those files on to other members nearby. It is the same idea as a browser cache, with one addition: your copy can help somebody else load the same post.
This is what allows ANOQR Social to be free to use and to keep content available without limits on how much you can post. It uses only storage your browser or phone has already set aside for this site, it adjusts downwards automatically when your device needs the room, and it never touches your photo library, documents or any other app’s data.
Nothing private is stored this way in readable form. Anything sent inside a chat is encrypted before it is stored anywhere, including on other members’ devices, so a member holding part of the network’s data cannot see what it is.
You can review how much is being stored, set a lower limit, or clear it entirely under Settings in ANOQR Social. We keep our own copy of recent content as well, so clearing your device does not by itself remove anything you have posted.
